Boarder at Institution of Yvetot
· Yvetot, Normandy, France
At age thirteen, Maupassant attended the ecclesiastical institution at Yvetot, where he began composing verse. The source gives his age rather than a calendar date; 1863 is derived from his 1850 birth year.
